For me in order to do my Order & Chaos photography project, i had to do some pre-collected research so then i could get on & do my project, & create my own inspired interpretation of the photography concept/genre.
For my research, i studied work done by photographers, via online & by using books, who's work is part on the order & chaos genre. For my research, i researched photographers such as Guido Mocafico, Andreas Gursky & Sebastiao Salgado.
Unfortunately, even though i found the research to help me in some way, that being the photographers work, i was not inspired by the work, so from that i decided to do the subject of Order & Chaos in general, but i do find the artists' work interesting.
(below you can find said research)
Guido Mocafico
Guido Mocafico is a contemporary master of still life photographer, born in Switzerland, who's images have been published in numerous magazines over the years, including, for example, Men's Vogue, Vogue US, Vogue France & Harpers Bazaar.
During his time, especially about 20 years ago, he began to develop personal projects, all be it seperate to his commercial successes, which resulted from his own personal passions; this is because he explored & researched his chosen themes deeply so he could gain an in-depth understanding of his chosen subjects at hand.
Some of his resulting chosen subjects/topic, such as Roses, Snakes, Brasilla/Beirut, are all varied & copious. i chose those as examples of his subjects, because those are the ones which drew me towards researching his work for my project as i feel that they're a very good representation of the Order part of the order and chaos photography subject in modern form especially his "Roses" project.
Andreas Gursky
Andreas Gursky is a german photographer & professor, who is known for his large format architecture & landscape photographs. His subjects often employ a high point of view. Before the 1990's Gursky did not manipulate his images but in the years since he has been frank about his reliance on computers to edit & enhance his images, this therefore creating an art of spaces larger than the subjects photographed.
In many of Gursky's photographs, the perspective of them is drawn from an elevated point, which therefore this position enables the viewer to encounter scenes, which encompass both centre & periphery, which are ordinarily beyond reach.
I found that Gursky's work is a very good representation of order photography with a very good colourful printed aspected, especially from his photo in the supermarket from above the shelves.
Sebastiao Salgado
Sebastiao Salgado is a Brazilian social documentary photographer & photojournalist who has traveled to over 120 countries for his photographic projects which most have appeared in numerous press publications and books. He chose to begin his career as a photographer after abandoning his career as an economist in 1973.
Between 2004 & 2011, Salgado worked on his project "Genesis" , which is his most well known project, where he was aiming at the overall presentation of the unblemished faces of nature and humanity;the project consists of a series of photographs of landscapes, wildlife and as well as of human commuities.
I decided to research him as i really liked & was intrigued by the surprising level of "order" based photography in his photos; there is chaos as well. The best example of this i found is that of his photo of some elephants, this i a good example of "order" based photography because of how they all are in a line.
