unit 6 - 3d research/context

what makes a 3d photograph? a picture that has or appears to have height, width and depth is three-dimensional, A picture that has height and width but no depth is two-dimensional. To full understand the concept of 3D photography, it is important to know how it happens. The simples way to define 3d photography is "it is a form of photography that captures and displays two offset images that are a little different from each other, so much so that they produce 3d images". it is pretty much like putting two images together in a distance similar to that of your eyes. You can create 3d images in different ways using a variety of methods. For majority of photographers, the most ideal way is to take photos using any digital camera and then use a 3d image software for achieving the three-dimensional effect. How is it done? here are a few steps you need to know to follow to take 3d photos 1. get your DSLR 2. prepare to take shots from different angles. however make sure yo

digital 3d

Digital 3d the technique for this photo is called 3d mesh, it is a technique that is done in photoshop by converting one or 2 layers & greyscale. link to instructions on how to do it -  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/creating-3d-objects-animations-photoshop.html i would use this technique in my work, to give one of my photos a 3d look, this being to make it stand out more & to give it a trippy affect

unit 6 - Analogue 3D updated - final image - better outcome

As you've previously seen/read on my blog, my original idea in which i had for my analogue 3d project, but as you've probably noticed by the title of this post, i have come up with, experimented with, and accomplished with another idea; as you can see by the images, promoting step by step parts of how i did it i might add, you can see below. The reason why i did this idea, made this analogue 3d  piece of art, if you have not read my previous blogs on my analogue 3d project, was/is because my previous idea to use a stencil of a photo i took, and make it pop and stand out so if you look at it from a different angle, it pops out, unfortunately it did not work, so i decided to create something, again using a photo in which i took, this time i used one that was more recent, but using a technique called window framing, where, as you can see below, it looks like the photo is coming out of the frame. The way in which i did the framing though, is via these steps: 1. print out y

Kaleidoscope

For this lesson i was set a task of creating a a kaleidoscope image using a DNG file (or the option of using a RAW file is also there) in photoshop. for those that do not know, a Kaleidoscope image is an optical instrument with two or more reflecting surfaces, which are tilted to each other in an angle, so that one or more (parts of) objects on one end of the mirrors, that being the image which is used, are seen as a regular symmetrical pattern when viewed from the other end, due to the repeated reflection. it is also dubbed as the kaleidoscope effect. This is the first time i had ever tried to create this process with a photo, plus during the lesson i also learnt what kaleidoscope is and what its definition, and its other known variations, especially as for years before i kept hearing the term kaleidoscope, and i had no idea what it was. For the process of creating the kaleidoscope image, i struggled may times, and did a few slip ups, as the image would not flip the way i want

Unit 6 - Analogue 3D Write Up (update)

as i previously mentioned in my last blog post, i started to do my research and overall started my process of creating my idea for my experimental Analogue 3D as part of my 3D project. In an update from my last post, unfortunately the process in which i was using to progress and create my analogue 3D part of my project, the stencil creator, the finished product from that was to hard for me to create my idea but also the overall picture i used was to small, so meaning it was blurry also. For those that did not know what my original idea was, i was planning on creating a stencil of an image using the link which is in the previous post to crete the stencil, which is of a rose, then get a scalpel, and slice the image diagonally then move some of the cut pieces to make it look like the rose has been cut up into pieces, or sliced into multiple pieces. Fortunately, i figured out a back-up plan, so with some given thought and inspiration from a fellow member of the class, what i decided to

unit 6 - 3D Digital - final images

This is my experimental attempt at creating a 3D digital image for my 3D projects. This task is the second part of my 3D project; again which co-insides with all the research in which we had done before for/along side our research for our Analogue 3D project. For my research this part, i researched at different types of Digital 3D Photography, this was so i could use as inspiration or try to copy/re-do in some sort of fashion. You can see examples of the ones i researched below. As you can see to my left, i decided to attempt in making a portrait in which my mate Alex took of me for his High Key photoshoot, as we was both doing our high key photoshoots back to back. I used this photo as i like the photo, and a very prominant photo of me, the concept behind making the photo 3D was to expand the view of portraiture itself, and to expand the view of reality; in other words, what i mean is, is that theres more to portraiture, and photography in general than meets the eye. For
